Latest CCP feature built to reduce web-aches

Introducing DB Find and Replace

As a website builder or administrator, there are a few types of headaches or so called “web-aches” that you may be keenly aware of. At CloudAccess.net, we are in the business of alleviating these so called web-aches... our goal is to make building and running a website easier, and that all starts with understanding the needs of our customers.

db find and replace

Today we would like to announce DB Find and Replace; a highly anticipated tool within our control panel. Don’t be fooled by it’s seemly elementary name.. this is a powerful tool that can save hours of troubleshooting and helps sooth various types of web-aches primarily associated with the WordPress CMS.

Why Does WordPress Require "Find and Replace"?

Nearly every time someone changes a domain name on a WordPress site, references to the old domain name are left in the database causing a variety of problems that are notoriously difficult to solve. WordPress.org offers instructions on changing your site’s domain name, however these changes can be complex and overwelming for some.

A Brief Overview

When firing up our new DB Find and Replace tool, you will notice an easy-to-use interface. It starts by entering your old domain name. The tool then scans your database for references to that URL and reports back with occurrences of that URL, including a list of tables where it can be found. At this point, the tool is only reporting occurrences of the old URL, no changes have been made. You will then be provided an option to change those references to your new URL, which in many cases will fix your websites woes.

To learn more about how to use this new tool, check out our newly added DB Find and Replace Tutorial which will walk you through the specifics.
