Tutorial #4: Installing the Cloudbase 2.0 Template (Joomla 2.5)

After clearing all content of your demo Joomla 2.5 site, you'll be left with a few elements (like the Joomla banner) in the default template that you may not want in your site. A template controls the look and layout of the site and ties together elements like articles, menu items, and modules. We recommend that you install the Cloudbase 2.0, is a free and flexible template for Joomla 2.5. This tutorial will show you how to download and install the Cloudbase 2.0 template in your Joomla 2.5 site.

Before installing into your site, demo and download the Cloudbase 2.0 template:

After downloading the template, log into the back end of your site, and go to Extensions > Extension Manager.

In the "Upload Package File" area, choose the file from where you saved in on your computer. Once the name of the file appears in the field, click on the Upload & Install button.

You will receive a blue message letting you know that you were successful and these green check marks letting you know that the framework for the template was installed successfully.

Making Cloudbase 2.0 your Default Template

Next, go to Extensions > Template Manager.

The Template Manager contains a list of all the templates available for your site. Some are for the "Site" or the front end of your site and some are for the "Administrator" or back end of your site. To make the Cloudbase 2.0 template the active or default template for the front end of your site, click on the star symbol in the default column. Once you do this, you will be given a blue message letting you know that you have successfully changed the template.

Now, return to the front end of your site to see the Cloudbase 2.0 template active on your site.
