WordCamp Asheville 2019

Wow! What an incredible event! I must say, this is WordCamp was done well and had wonderful attendees/speakers/sponsors/organizers/volunteers that pulled everything together beautifully.

With over 270 attendees, they had their hands full. Despite there being a few mix ups with the event, the organizers found ways around it through working together and pulled off an extremely successful event. The food included with this WordCamp was good enough to have attended just for it! We were set in a beautiful location, in the University of North Carolina in Asheville. Of course with Asheville being one of the top locations for breweries in the country, the Speaker/Sponsor Dinner and the After-Party were hosted at two of the most raved about breweries in the city. All in all, Asheville was gorgeous and the WordCamp couldn't have been better.

On Day 1 of our attendance, we got started bright and early at 8 a.m! Danielle attended this event by herself, and had the booth up and running by 8:20. Anxious to get going, the attendees were already flooding in. We had plenty of time to get to speak with some of the attendees that morning before the keynote and sessions started. This year, the keynote was delivered by Chris Lema himself. He delivered an incredible keynote, that we could not take our eyes away from. Unfortunately, this was the only session we were able to see during this event, but boy was it worth it! After the keynote, we got to speak with many attendees and answer questions about their hosting needs. This is Danielle's favourite part of the events, getting to speak with the attendees and networking.

We finished the day around 5 p.m, and then we got around to head to the after-party! There was wonderful food there and drinks all around. The first 100 attendees even got a free beer! After about five hours of networking at the after-party (and staying later), we headed back to get some much-needed rest for the next day.

On Day 2, we dived right in at 9 a.m, with sessions starting right away. Everyone was primarily focused on the sessions this day, so we got to do some networking with all the other wonderful sponsors who were there. The companies who were doing giveaways presented the winners at 1:15 p.m and they did the closing remarks then, so everyone could finish the day with their sessions until about 4 p.m. We had an Instagram giveaway, using Danielle's Instax camera. Whoever's picture had the most likes, won the prize! (how fun, right?) We will be announcing the winner at the end of this week.

Overall, we really enjoyed this event, and hope to be back in the future. Thank you to everyone who came together to make this WordCamp happen. Please enjoy our photos from our attendance.
