Let's talk about user experience

Every one of us has its favorite store, cafe or a restaurant. We like to return there because these businesses have created a positive experience. The digital world is no different thus we also have some favorite websites. They offer us with great design, atmosphere and effective problem resolution and in return we give them our loyalty. Everyone want loyal clients but often doesn't know what to do to increase user experience. If you among these people, you've come to the right place.

What's UX and why you should think about it

International Organization for Standardization defines user experience (UX) as „a person's perceptions and responses that result from the use or anticipated use of a product, system or service". In other words, UX defines users' impressions of a website based on how easy and pleasant it is to use. By increasing user experience, you will create a more desirable place for your clients to interact with your brand. Remember that it takes about 0,05 seconds for users to form an opinion about your website. Yes, you've read that right. Only 0,05 seconds determine whether a visitor likes like your website, or whether they will leave it for good.

When UX is great?

  • your website is easy-to-navigate
  • visitors can find everything they're looking for with ease
  • your website is content-rich and well designed
  • mobile version of your site looks as great as its desktop version
An infamous website www.arngren.net was named many times as one of the worst websites in the whole internet. The site doesn’t use a grid, navigational structure is poor and colors are totally random.

Improving UX? It's worth every cent of your money

Steve Jobs once said that "you have to start with the customer experience and work your way back to technology." and he was totally true. Unfortunately, many business owners still underestimate the benefits that they can receive by increasing UX on their website. 88% of online consumers are less likely to return to the website after a bad experience and this should convince you to take care of your UX. Good user experience makes your clients feel satisfied and increases the chance that they will come back to you. Remember that it takes only ONE negative review to ruin your business. According to Baymard Institute, 95% of users rely on reviews before getting to know more about a given company. If you're still not convinced, this should make you think more about UX: businesses which invested in user experience, soon after recorded an increase in sales. That's right. When deciding to invest in UX, remember about ROI (return on investment). You will not regret this! The main goal is to convert visitors into customers and more customers mean more sales, right?

You have to start with the customer experience and work your way back to technology.

Know your customers

If you want to increase UX on your website you need to know your customers better. When you start to improve UX you need to think about:

  • the demographics of your users,
  • their frequency of use of your website,
  • how they access your website.

It's crucial to become familiar with all these information for one good reason: with all this knowledge you will easily create a website which will mirror your user flow and meet their needs in terms of functionality and features. Remember that converting random people into paying customers is your goal here and if you address the essential needs of your visitors, then you can be almost 100% sure that your business will thrive.
